Member Biographies

Justin Dorsey

  • President
  • First Sergeant

Justin has been a reenactor since 1998.  He first joined the ranks of the 139th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry as a guideon bearer & served in that capacity until 2002, then moved into the ranks as a Private until 2004, when he rose to the rank of Hospital Steward serving on the Vincent’s Brigade, 2nd Battalion Medical Staff.  In 2010 Justin returned to the ranks of the 139th PVI as a Corporal, in 2012 Justin was promoted to Second Sergeant, & in 2013 Justin was promoted to First Sergeant & subaltern to the Company Commander.  In 2011 Justin became the Event Coordinator for an annual reenactment that takes place at Renfrew Park in Waynesboro, PA.

 Justin is a District Human Resources Manager for Giant Food & resides in Ijamsville, MD with his wife Samantha, two step-children, & one grandson.  In his leisure time Justin enjoys spending time with family & friends.

Don "Doc" Dolbin

Doc has been a reenactor with the 139th PVI since 1994. He first joined the ranks of the 139th PVI  as a private. Doc rose through the ranks until becoming the Captain in 2009. Doc represents the 139th PVI on the Board of Company Commanders, which developed and implemented the by-laws of the Federal Volunteer Brigade, which the 139th PVI belongs.

Doc resides in Enola, PA with his wife, Michele and their two children, Margaret and Kyle. Doc is an Administrative Assistant with the PA Department of Education. He also serves his community as a volunteer firefighter. His favorite thing about reenacting is the many friendships that he has developed over his many years of civil war reenacting.

Michelle Hummel

Michelle Hummel - Michelle has been a reenactor since 2011. She first joined the 139th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry as a Civilian because one of her sons were interested, but quickly fell in love with reenacting. She has since become an integral part of our company. Whether it is helping out around camp by cooking or maintaining the fire, making sure on hot days there are melons cut and ready for after battle to help hydrate, or taking care of company equipment that is used, we know she will be there. Currently she plays a civilian, but it is rumored that she may take the field in the near future. Michelle is also our webmaster for both our company website and the website for the Renfrew Civil War Reenactment.

Michelle is a computer programmer and resides in Central Pennsylvania. She has raised 3 sons. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with friends, dancing and going on road trips.

Renee Jones

Renee and her family have been reenacting with the 139th since 2002.  After her first two years as a lady with the company, she joined the ranks as a private at the end of 2003.  After working her way up through the ranks, she was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant in 2009, taking on the roll as the Safety Officer.

Renee lives Scottdale, Pennsylvania with her husband, Harry and their daughter, Sierra.  She works as a Senior Patient Scheduler for Excela Health, and volunteers in prison ministry and with Toys for Tots. 

Ronald Brown

Michael Sweigard

  • Corporal

Michael Sweigard has been a reenactor since 2013. He first joined the ranks of the 139th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry as Private; in 2015 Michael was promoted to a Corporal, & currently serves as the subaltern to the First Sergeant. In 2017 Michael became the Assistant Event Coordinator for an annual reenactment that takes place at Renfrew Park in Waynesboro, PA. 

Michael is a Medical Assistant at the Family Practice Center in Harrisburg, PA. Michael resides in Harrisburg, PA with his wife Becky and two sons, KC & Wyatt; all of them are active members of the 139th. In his leisure time Michael enjoys spending time with family & friends.  

Austin Whitmer

  • Corporal

Austin is 20 years old and has been reenacting for * years now. He joined the 139th as a private and was promoted to corporal at 1st Manassas in 2016. 

Outside of reenacting he is a volunteer fire fighter with Franklin County Fire Department and is going to school to become a full time firefighter. Other hobbies of his include archery, hunting and running calls with his department.
